I was a fan of the first book in this series and then tried the 2nd and 3rd book which I thought were okay but had read that same type of story countless times before. Each book in the series is a new character who finds their mate and has their own drama (usually someone trying to kill one or both of them). The only difference is really the personalities of each character that almost become annoyingly stereotypical. This caused me to stop reading the series completely. I decided to give this one a try as it had been awhile and to see if maybe the author had a 2019 twist on the same old way author's have been writing these kinds of series from the mid 2000's. I would say the only difference is that the female characters are more unapologetic in their feminism, but pretty much everything else is the same to any paranormal series that you've been reading for over a decade. You can probably just erase the names and put in characters from other books and be fine. Some examples of what I'm talking about: I roll my eyes at the playboy hero who never sleeps over at his conquests because he has attachment issues like him sleeping there makes them married. To be fair, the female character, Mila, does call him out on this yet I still don't understand why that is used to be a characteristic for him in the first place. Mila, the heroine, almost dies 4 different times (a little excessive) due to having a bounty on her head and the male over protectiveness quickly becomes cringe-worthy. Honestly, I don't fault the author as much as I do the genre that at this point in time the paranormal romance template hasn't changed all that much. How disappointing. On the positive side, I do believe this author is a decent writer and I've read some of her other series that I've enjoyed a lot! And as I mentioned above, I will give her a star for the fact that she has a strong female character who doesn't just say she can handle herself, but actually does.TL; DR: I gave the book 2 stars because the author is a talented writer and while the plot and characters were boring from being the same old story from this genre, I know there is a lot of comfort in knowing what to expect. If you're still liking these types of series then you'll enjoy this last installment! I've read this series from the beginning and while I've enjoyed most of the books, I haven't loved them all. I found this book pretty refreshing compared to some of the problems I've had with a few of the others. While the writing style, characters and plot definitely follow a pattern to the point that I find the stories almost sound repetitive, this is one of the only five star reviews I've left for this series. It wasn't perfect, but I really enjoyed it. Dominic sees Mila sing in the Mercury Pack's club and is instantly enthralled by her. He tries his lines on her and she tells him to take a hike. Dominic can't get her out of his head and pursues her and Mila finds herself attracted to him (although somewhat unwillingly). He's a wolf and she's a pallas cat (who's family is the focus of the new series coming out in the future by this author). They're not true mates, so this romance focusses on imprinting instead. After Mila is attacked, the Phoenix pack discover that a hit has been put on her from the dark web site that's cropped up in a few other books in the Shifter series. They believe it's a result of her twin brother's debts but he can't be found to verify this. As a dominant wolf, Dominic's protectiveness and possessiveness for Mila goes into overdrive and he's determined to keep her safe and make her see that he's there for her. There's also the added complication of an ex (of course because what kind of Wright book would this be without a jealous ex?!) of Dominic's believing that she has a dormant wolf and that he's her true mate that can wake it up. The ex's father tries to buy and then force Dominic's hand and remains an antagonist throughout the book along with his daughter. Thankfully, there wasn't too much female-hating in this book which has really frustrated me in this series in the past. The other theme in the book is that Mila knows who her true mate is and he's imprinting on her cousin. As a result, she's looking at moving to Russia where some of her family are and entering into an arranged marriage (because apparently the author thought there's not quite enough going on with all the other stuff).Dominic was a really likeable character for me. While I thought the book would be riddled with his cheesy lines, it wasn't done excessively which was a positive for me. I actually thought the other members of his pack would have laid it on a bit heavier. He was sexy and knew what he wanted without being a jerk to Mila. They didn't gloss over his role as a 'player' and I really like how the author kept him true to form by having him leave Mila in the early hours of the morning like he would with other dalliances as a result of his commitment issues. As for Mila, she was strong and gave as good as she got, not taking crap from anyone and trying not to take things personally. She wasn't overly emotional and was more of realist, which I liked. Of course, just like the other books in this series, each of them has their own personal baggage and tragic story that prevents them from completely committing to each other. Mila's is because of knowing who her true mate is and Dominic had parents that were true mates, but his mother left after not being content and losing a son in an accident. Dominic was always to compared to him, his father went rogue, blah, blah, blah. While this book was still over the top like most of the books in this author's Shifter novels, this one didn't push the envelope as far as some of the others which is why I think I enjoyed it a bit more than most of the others. Don't get me wrong, some parts still had me rolling my eyes, but not wanting to claw them out. I absolutely loved the fact that Greta didn't feature too much and that some of the quirks of the other Phoenix pack members, such as Roni spouting out random lines, didn't get shoved down our throats which, again, has happened in other books and almost made them unlikable for me. While it was great to check in with the other members of the pack, there wasn't too much cliched rubbish which was fantastic. There was quite a bit of repetition about how taken Dominic and Mila were with each other. Dominic was constantly reflecting on how he'd never felt possessive of a woman, how he was drawn to her, how attracted he was to her, how she pulled him in, and so on and so forth. This got a bit old. There was also the frequent use of singular word sentences that are adjectives that this author loves to use to describe what's going on as well as the propensity for the characters to go on long diatribes that articulate aspects of the story line or character's feelings. In doing this, things are dumbed down for the reader in case they missed the glaringly obvious points that have been repeated throughout the rest of the book.If you've read other books in the Phoenix and Mercury series, you'll notice that some of the phrases and themes used, especially in the sex scenes, are familiar. While there were a few hints dropped in the book about a character that popped up, enough that you knew it was going to be significant, I didn't see the twist in the story which was a positive for me. What was a negative, however, was that it was completely ridiculous. The plot had been mostly believable up until this. It really lost me when 'grenades were slung'. Riiiiighto. Seriously, sometimes this author just goes too far and parts of the story go from being over the top but still a bit fun to just plain silly.Oh, and just as a personal 'oh, this is gross' note - I do not want to read about a male character 'scooping up all that cream' while in an intimate act. Blech. We get it. All of your male characters love getting dirty with their females, but they're not at a restaurant, so calm your farm. This is up there with the word 'moist'.Overall, this is another over the top book in the Shifter pack series by Suzanne Wright. While some parts had me rolling my eyes, I still really enjoyed it and gave it five stars, although I'm not sure if I loved it or just liked it a lot more than some of the others that I'd given four stars to so felt I had to give this one the extra mark. The series went out with a bang and I'm glad that Dominic and the pack got their happy ending. The author included an epilogue that detailed who had what kids in the pack which was a really nice touch. I'll miss Trey and Taryn :( Read Online Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) Download Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) PDF Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) Mobi Free Reading Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) Download Free Pdf Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) PDF Online Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) Mobi Online Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) Reading Online Untamed Delights (The Phoenix Pack Book 8) Read Online Suzanne Wright Download Suzanne Wright Suzanne Wright PDF Suzanne Wright Mobi Free Reading Suzanne Wright Download Free Pdf Suzanne Wright PDF Online Suzanne Wright Mobi Online Suzanne Wright Reading Online Suzanne WrightDownload Mobi Hitching the Cowboy (Circle B Ranch Book 1) By Kennedy Fox
